Step Two
Step Three
Step One: This effect, as usual, begins with a photo. The one that we’re using looks great with the girl against the out- door background, but we need to crop in a little because she seems small in the frame. We’ll do this by bringing the photo into another document.

Step Two: Create a new document by going to the File menu and choosing New. Set the Width to 810 pixels and the Height to 1200. Check that all the other settings are the same as what’s shown here, and click Create.
Step Three: Go back to the origi- nal image and using the Move tool (V), drag-and-drop it over to the new docu- ment. Use Free Transform (Command-T [PC: Ctrl-T]) to scale and position the image in the new composition. Remem- ber to press-and-hold the Shift key to keep things proportional, and to press Command-0 (zero; PC: Ctrl-0) to expand the document to reveal the transform box. When done, press Return (PC: Enter).
