WE’RE LISTENING
Welcome to our “retouching” issue, which was inspired by your responses to a poll we sent out about the magazine. The one thing we heard loud and clear was that you wanted to learn more about all sorts of retouching, from peo- ple to things. So, not only did we add a new regular column from high-end retoucher and awesome KelbyOne instructor, Kristina Sherk, but we also thought we’d kick it all off with an entire issue dedicated to just that.
While you’re checking out the retouching
articles, I hope you’ve noticed that we’ve
been updating the look of the mag through-
out, with an emphasis on a clean, easy-to-
read look, bigger graphics, and a completely
redesigned product reviews section (because
you let us know how important our reviews are to you). Also in each issue, we now spotlight a member benefit, so you’ll find new ways all year to make the most of your membership. We really take the results of those polls we send out seriously, and I hope you enjoy seeing your suggestions and ideas taking life right away here in the magazine.
As we’re about to publish this issue, our annual Photo- shop World Conference 2017 is right around the corner (April 20–22) at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. It’s the annual conference for KelbyOne members, and people come from all over the globe to attend this annual Photoshop, photography, Lightroom, and lighting love-fest. If you haven’t made your plans to join us yet, it’s not too late (plus, as a KelbyOne member, you save $100 off a conference pass). Head over to photoshopworld
.com and join us next month in Orlando. It will change you in awesome ways you can’t imagine (and you’ll have an amazing time and make lots of new friends while you’re doing it). Hey, did I mention the super-mega awesome Stella Kramer was added to the instructor roster? She’s amazing, and we’re honored to have her at Photoshop World with us for the first time ever.
As for KelbyOne, we’re hard at work on two big projects: First, lots of back-end work going on building the foundation for the next phase of what we want to add to our community, including one-on-one portfolio reviews and study groups. Secondly, we’re deep in the middle of developing an all-new KelbyOne app for iOS and Android that we expect to roll out in late spring/early summer.
We’re also working on a list of member-generated ideas for the site, including a new course-page experience, player enhancements, and lots of things to just make your overall experience better. There will be lots of fun stuff to share on that front very soon.
Our “Gallery at KelbyOne” gala opening is this Saturday, March 18, and if you’re anywhere in Florida and would like to come to the opening wine and cheese reception (free to KelbyOne members) that evening, you can RSVP here. We’re excited to feature the work of KelbyOne member Mark Wegner in the gallery, and afterward we’ll hear from Mark in a look at his work and the man behind the art. You can see a live webcast here. We’re really excited to have launched this new gallery where we celebrate and show- case the work of our members all year long—this is just the start of our “gallery season” with so much more to come.
Lots of great classes coming up, including some extraor- dinary courses on Family Photography, my Lightroom
7-Point System, How to Sell Your Images on Adobe Stock, and so many more. We’re really excited about what we have coming, and we’re so glad you’re here with us to learn.
All my best,
Scott Kelby
