Step Four: Under the Global Refinements, use the four sliders to adjust the edge of the selec- tion. You can use these settings or you can experiment with your own.
Step Five: If the hair near the shoulders of the model isn’t being affected by the Global Refine- ments, use the Refine Edge Brush tool (R) to include those areas in the selection edge. Note: The screenshot below shows the edge detection area border, this is where the edge refinement occurs. To enable the Show Edge view, press the J key. To return to the On Layers view, press the J key again.
Step Six: After you’ve made all your adjust- ments, go down to the Output Settings section, select Layer Mask from the Output To pop-up menu, and click OK.
Tip: If you prefer to work with the old Refine Edge (refine mask) dialog, press-and-hold the Shift key and go to Select>Select and Mask while you have an active selection or layer mask selected.
