From my tests, it seems the plug-in works by finding high-contrast edges, and that works well on images with subjects without detail and few blemishes; but less well on others. To fix all defects that run across low-contrast areas scarring different subjects, you need to crank up the Detection Intensity a lot. That’s okay, but SRDx then starts to find scratches where there are none, especially with images that have small detail.
And here’s the catch: creating masks to ensure fixes are applied in only the right spots takes up time, although probably not as much as when you use Photoshop’s Healing Brush from the start. I tried it on some badly damaged images and was happy to have SRDx as a preparatory tool, but it can’t beat Photo- shop’s healing brushes in terms of accuracy, or a scanner with an IR channel. n
